What is Long Term Athletic Development?
What is the Long Term Athlete Development Program? A well-planned and specific practice, training, competition, and recovery program that ensures optimal development throughout an athletes’ career. Long term success is sustained through proper training and performance along a well structured, goal oriented developmental program. Our focus is long term involvement in physical activity with sustained health and well-being along with athletic success, not on winning in the short term. Scientific research has concluded that it takes an athlete 8-12 years of training for a talented player/athlete to reach elite levels. This is also known as the 10 year or 10,000 hour rule. Unfortunately, the “here and now” philosophy of coaches and parents in sports tend to focus on short term physical training with an overemphasis on immediate results. This philosophy tends to lead a young athlete along the path of physical and emotional breakdown with eventual overtraining and burnout of athletics all together.

Each Phase of Development is structured specifically for the biological age group and training experience. We focus on basic fundamentals before sports specific training.
The basic fundamentals are:
- Coordination/Balance/Agility
- Endurance/Generalized Conditioning
- Speed Development
- Movement Development
- Strength/Power Development
